Shopping for new HVAC equipment for your Dayton area home can be a challenging process. If not for the Energy Star label, many consumers might spend weeks before making a well-informed decision. As if the federal Energy Star program’s service to consumers and the environment wasn’t enough, now they’re fine-tuning the program with the new Most Efficient label.
New label, new standards
Though the original Energy Star label isn’t going anywhere, the Most Efficient designation represents an important step in the program’s evolution. With numerous energy-related appliance currently on the market now qualifying for the Energy Star label, the program was an undeniable success. However, this also meant that separating the best from the rest had once again become a challenge. This is where the Most Efficient label entered the picture.
Whether you’re looking for heating or cooling equipment, or some other energy-related appliance or product, the recipients of the Most Efficient label represent the best that manufacturers have to offer. And with new criteria — such as a minimum AFUE rating of at least 97 percent for furnaces – consumers can easily distinguish the best products available to consumers.
Easy to find, easy to choose
The Energy Star website makes it easier to shop for new models of heating and cooling equipment than every before. On their website, you’ll find a list of the models that meet the Most Efficient criteria. You also have the ability to download documentation of the new criteria or find out additional details about each model. Everything from AFUE and SEER ratings to estimated energy usage, estimated annual cost, and system capacity is right at your fingertips.
